Sophia + Jake | Engagement

Sophia and Jake were a dream to photograph! They were so natural, the love between them was undeniable. They put up with some pretty intense weather, and my runny nose! :) The sun was nice enough to come out for a while and warm us all up a bit...I think you can tell how happy it made these two...although it could be the fact that they are sweetly engaged! Congrats to Sophia and Jake...I can't wait for the big day to get here!

Shasta + Josh | Wedding

I'm getting better at this blog thing, yes?

I couldn't be happier to share some photos from Shasta & Josh's beautiful November wedding! As close family friends, I've had a lot of folks asking to see more, so I thought what better way to share them with you all <3

The day started with the normal jitters and anxious smiles. The girls were fixing their hair, the guys were trying to figure out their boutonnieres (aren't they always?), and the families were counting down the minutes! Shasta and Josh opted for a first look to ensure a more relaxed day- and it couldn't have gone any better. They shared such a sweet moment together- you can really tell how much they love each other, especially when you see the way that Josh looks at Shasta! All the heart eyes!

The wedding party was full of familiar faces from weddings I had done in the past couple of years, and they always know how to keep me laughing! There were some pretty priceless moments captured, especially the reactions from the crowd during the best man speech...not mentioning any names...*coughjordancough*...but really, the MOH and best man speeches were some of the best I've heard. I had to wipe my tears before catching the bride and groom cutting their cake!

Between the true emotional moments, the silly and the serious- it was absolutely one of the most amazing days. Gorgeous, gorgeous!

Natalie + Kyle | Wedding

It's not everyday you get to spend your morning in one of the most beautiful mansions in Illinois! What an amazing way to start the day, let me tell ya!

I could already feel the love in the air when I stepped inside Vrooman Mansion for the first time. The scent of old books greeted me as I took in the rich wallpaper, a different deep shade in every room. I could hear laughter from upstairs and turned my attention to the grand staircase. I travelled up and settled in the pink room, where the gorgeous bride sat beaming- smiling through the swishing and the dabbing of makeup being applied. If you know Natalie at all, you know she is too excited to sit still. The most sweet and charming young woman you could ever meet.

You could say she is quite loved, too. After spending some time with the girls, a couple of the bridesmaids pulled me aside to fill me in on a BIG surprise. I could hardly keep the silly grin off of my face when I learned that the groom, Kyle, had gotten his bride the ultimate wedding gift...I'll let you scroll through the photos to see if you can figure out just what his special gift was!

Now, mind you, this was only the beginning of my day! After so much fun already, I parted with the girls to meet the guys. They were dressed and anxious, rehearsing a dance the entire wedding party had planned for the reception. Their laughter was contagious! And as the day went on, so many more laughs were shared...and maybe a few tears, lots of hugs, and a couple smooches here and there!

Just check out those dance moves! <3

Alec + Katie | Engaged

Alec and Katie came out to the farm to celebrate their engagement about a month ago and it was the PERFECT evening. They were both so sweet and just so genuinely happy...just check out the way they look at each other! <3

The mosquitos were definitely out and at large, but we didn't let them get in the way! These two were brave! We hopped from location to location- classic case of chasing that beautiful golden sunset. So dreamy. Katie even agreed to wear the flower crown that I made (I could definitely use some more practice), bless her heart!

A whole foot taller than Katie, Alec was worried about the height difference in the photographs. I think things worked out just fine. They rocked it!!!

I felt so honored to capture Alec and Katie's love story. The two met while deployed in Iraq- and coming from a military family background, that hit close to home. Extremely thankful for their amazing service as medics in the National Guard. You two are truly outstanding beings, I'm so lucky to have met you!

Thank you to Alec and Katie for your inspiring story and your lovable chemistry...we are all goo-goo eyed over you both! Congrats!! :)

Vittoria | Senior

Vittoria came to visit me out at the farm the other day and I was completely in awe of this gorgeous young lady! Can we all swoon?!

Sunshine.

Sunshine was the only request Vittoria gave me when it came to planning her senior session. I thought, "that's not too hard!", with it being summer and all, no problem, right?

Wrong.

Here we are in August and you never really know what the weather is going to do in Illinois. So, of course, the clouds move in the day we had originally planned to get together. And the rain. Buckets. We pushed our playdate back a week and finally...the sun danced in the sky again! We couldn't have asked for a more gorgeous evening out in the country!

They say home is where the heart is, which is probably why I have so much anxiety anytime I go to town. Moving to the country has really allowed me to find peace and stretch my creativity. I love bringing friends out and sharing this little corner of my heart with them! Vittoria was a rockstar- bold, beautiful, and not afraid of bugs. She was such a trooper! I feel blessed to have met such a sweet soul.

Here are a few from our adventures together!
